Pivot to private labels: the 2025 savings king

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Youdle) -
The Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) recently released its 2025 report, revealing that store brand sales have surpassed a record $271 billion annually. The data indicates a major shift: shoppers are no longer viewing store brands as "cheap alternatives," but as quality competitors.

With national brand prices rising by nearly 10% in some categories this year, private labels—like Walmart’s Great Value or Kroger’s Private Selection—have gained massive ground by maintaining quality while offering a "price gap" of 20% to 30%.

For your next club run, swap name-brand staples for "Premium" store brand lines. The PLMA report highlights that organic and specialty private labels saw the highest growth in 2025, offering the same nutritional standards as name brands for a fraction of the cost.

On average, shoppers are saving $25 per trip just by opting for the store-brand equivalent of high-volume items.
