How to get 50% off premium holiday meats

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Youdle) – Based on reports from Supermarket News and FMI – The Food Industry Association, grocery retailers across the country are preparing for a massive overnight inventory shift when the sun sets on Christmas Day.

According to the latest U.S. Grocery Shopper Trends report from FMI, retailers overstocked premium proteins like prime rib, lamb, and spiral-cut hams this year to meet high consumer demand for a “great homemade feast.”

Starting tomorrow morning, December 26, these high-end cuts will enter the "markdown window." Stores like Kroger and Safeway often apply "Manager’s Special" stickers—ranging from 30% to 50% off—to clear shelf space for New Year’s champagne and party platters. For shoppers, this is the prime time to stock a freezer for the first quarter of 2026.

Arrive at your local meat department before 10:00 AM tomorrow. Focus on the refrigerated end-caps. These "holiday leftovers" are perfectly safe to freeze for up to six months, effectively cutting your protein budget in half for the coming months.
