Food scientist warns about two risky foods

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Youdle) – As we start the new year, it's essential to consider not just the nutritional value of our meals, but also their safety. According to food scientist and content creator Roxanne Smith, two commonly consumed foods might pose health risks.
Smith has flagged raw sprouts and rare burgers as high-risk foods that could lead to foodborne illnesses. These foods, she says, can be a hotbed for harmful bacteria, turning mealtime into a game of intestinal roulette.
Despite their nutritional value, raw sprouts—whether they're mung bean, alfalfa, broccoli, or mustard greens—can harbor harmful bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella! These bacteria thrive in warm, moist environments, much like the conditions sprouts are grown in.
Avoid raw sprouts in salads and sandwiches
Be cautious with rare burgers, as they can also carry foodborne bacteria
