WASHINGTON, July 2, 2025 — Kraft Heinz Foods Company has issued a massive recall of approximately 367,812 pounds of fully cooked Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon after tests revealed possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes (Lm). The recall was announced today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

⚠️ What products are affected?

The recall includes Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon produced between April 24, 2025, and June 11, 2025, specifically:

  • 12-ounce vacuum-packed packages of "Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL"

    • UPC: 071871548601

    • "Use by" dates: July 18, 2025 – August 2, 2025

    • Lot code: RS40

  • 36-ounce packages (three 12-ounce packs inside)

    • UPC: 071871548748

    • "Use by" dates: July 23, 2025 – September 4, 2025

    • Lot codes: RS19, RS40, RS42

  • 48-ounce packages (four 12-ounce packs inside)

    • UPC: 071871548793

    • "Use by" dates: July 18, 2025 – September 4, 2025

    • Lot codes: RS19, RS40, RS42

All affected products display the USDA mark of inspection on the front label. These items were shipped nationwide and also sent to the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.

🧪 Why is this happening?

The potential contamination was discovered during routine in-house laboratory testing at the Newberry, S.C. facility. Fortunately, no confirmed illnesses have been reported so far.

However, Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, especially in older adults, pregnant women and newborns, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. In pregnant women, listeriosis can lead to miscarriages, stillbirths, or severe illness in newborns.

🗑️ What should you do now?

FSIS urges consumers to check their refrigerators and freezers immediately. If you have any of these products, do not eat them. Instead:

✅ Throw them away, or
✅ Return them to the store for a refund.
